The Take Up the Shield Project came about the week of July 11, 2005. Los
Angeles County Chaplain Tony Miano was visiting Tulsa, Oklahoma, on a Police
Mission Trip. As Tony
traveled that week, his book - Take Up The Shield - was being discussed
at length by peace officers & citizens.
As prayer continued by many that week, a plan
began to formulate on bringing Take Up The Shield to thousands of officers.
That plan started with this website and culminated in early 2007 as several
Tulsa Police officers joined together in an effort to raise money for the
project. On February 20, 2007, the Sand Springs Police
Department became the first agency to receive Take Up The Shield.
The project team asks for
your daily prayers as this project moves forward.

Written by a street cop, this unique
publication compares the various pieces of law enforcement equipment to the
spiritual armor that the Bible describes in Ephesians chapter 6. Real-life law
enforcement stories drive home the importance of each piece of equipment.
You don't have to be a cop or a Christian to
be encouraged and challenged by this book. In addition to building your faith,
this book will serve as a helpful introduction to the men and women who protect
you and your community. |
